The SASAH Blog would like to invite anyone in the London area out to the AHSC Theatrical Production of “The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza” (written by David Ives) which will be be performed at The Arts Project theatre from January 30th – February 2nd! The show features many of SASAH’s own: Julia Sebastien (4th-year) is the director, Jerika Caduhada (2nd year) is the producer, and on stage, Cobourn Sands (2nd year) plays “Simon de Vries”, and Aaron Fysh (1st year) stars as the titular “Baruch de Spinoza”.
It tells the story of Spinoza as a young, free-thinker living in a small, orthodox Jewish community in 1600s Amsterdam during the Spanish Inquisition. It explores his struggle to pursue his own metaphysics and logical reasoning while remaining a part of his people, who have promised to police each other for orthodoxy and stick to themselves in order to appease the Dutch authorities. It is a comedy, a love story, a friendship tale, a tragedy, and most importantly a courtroom drama.
